Today I want to talk a little bit about the winter months ahead. We live in New England, so it’s inevitable that the weather is going to get cold, and it’s going to snow. If you’re going to be away from your home for an extended period of time, or if you’re headed down south for the winter, you must winterize your property. Here are a couple of things you should think about:

The first would be calling a professional plumber or well company to winterize your property if you can. If not, make sure your drains and lines are fully drained. This includes the outdoor hose bibs, which are susceptible to freezing, and these should be checked regardless of whether you are staying in your home this winter or not.

You also want to make sure you have someone clearing your driveway and walkways of snow when the time comes. It’s a clear indicator for potential burglars that you’re not home. Finally, you want to have someone check on your property. Have a neighbor stop by once a week or so and make sure everything is in good shape.

If you have any questions, don’t hesitate to give me a call. I look forward to hearing from you!
