Listing My Home in the Winter, Huh?

If your home is listed on the market right now, I’ve got some advice for you.

The weather’s getting cooler and we all know that the holidays are around the corner. Since it’s this late in the year, I’d like to pass along a little bit of advice to any home sellers out there.

You won’t hear many Realtors say this, but if your home is still listed right now, I’d recommend that you take it off the market. Give it a rest and wait out the rest of the year.
Another thing that you won’t hear many Realtors say is that if you take your home off the market today, make sure that you list it again early in the 1st quarter of 2017.
If you’re worried about there being fewer buyers on the market during the snowy, wintery months, I completely understand your concerns. The reality is that there may not be as many buyers out in the market during the early part of the 1st quarter as there would be during another time of year. However, there are a few benefits to capitalizing on the buyers that are out there looking at homes.

List your home early in

the first quarter of 2017.

One advantage is that there won’t be nearly as much competition out in the market at this time as there would be during the busier seasons. The basic tenets of supply and demand dictate that when consumers have fewer options, you as a seller can control the market on a more substantial level.

If you have any questions about preparing your home for the first quarter market or anything else related to real estate in Connecticut, feel free to give me a call or send me an email anytime. I look forward to hearing from you.
