Let's talk about generators for your home.
There are two types: on demand and gas powered.
On-demand generators kick on as soon as the power goes out. They are powered by propane or natural gas. However, gas powered generators need to be pulled out, cranked up, and they don't last as long.
Which kind should you get? It depends on your needs and financial ability.

It's a good idea for older clients to invest in on-demand
generators, since they cannot be without power for very long. Depending on the
size of your home, it could cost between $8,000 and $15,000 to get an on demand
generator. Gas powered generators are great in a pinch, but you need to have a
lot of gas available to power it. Gas generators also don't last as long as on
demand generators.
Make sure you have your generator professionally installed by a certified electrician, and that you get a town permit. You don't want to start a fire or hurt someone else on the grid.
