Interview with Police Chief of Newtown, Connecticut
Hello, everyone. Welcome back to our video bog!
Today, I am with Newtown Police Chief Michael Kehoe. I have had the opportunity to get to know a lot of the men and women who serve our community and they are so dedicated to our protection and safety.
I wanted you to hear from Chief Kehoe about where he sees the Newtown community going.
Newtown Police Chief Michael Kehoe
I’ve had an interest in law enforcement since I was kid. I went to college at West Connecticut State University. After graduating, Newtown was hiring and I was fortunate to join the force here.
I fell in love with the community. It’s such a tremendous community. Through the 35 years in law enforcement I was able to climb the ranks and am now the chief.
Newtown is a great community. We have very little crime and I think that’s because we do have such a strong presence in the town.
One of our challenges, though, is traffic safety. As technology advanced we’ve had to find a way to prevent distracted drivers and speeding, etc. This is a nationwide problem. We want everyone in our community to feel safe driving, walking and participating in activities here.
I see Newtown continuing to grow in the next years. The police force here will continue to be dedicated to serving the community.
