Smart Money

Watch on your mobile device >>

We all know the values of our investments—IRAs, 401ks, savings and checking accounts—on a day-to-day basis, but we don’t know the value of our largest investment (our homes). Of course, those in the market to sell their homes know the value, but those who are not planning to sell in maybe the next year, five, 10 or 25 years don’t know what their home is worth. It’s great information to have.

People love their homes and probably think they’re worth more than they are. A real estate agent can take the emotional factor out of the equation and give you an accurate figure by comparing your home to what other similar homes that are nearby have sold for in the past six to 12 months. Easy enough.

So why bother getting this information? Knowing what your home is worth helps you plan your investments for your retirement, college expenses, a home equity loan, or refinancing, which can save you hundreds each month that you can then invest in a more savvy way. After all, your home is your largest asset so understanding its value on a yearly basis is very smart money.

Give me a call so I can give you this valuable information. Or if you’re thinking of buying or selling, I can tell you where to be positioned and how to be successful in this changing market. Please contact me at (203) 727-8621 or AndySachs@CBMoves.com. We’d be happy to assist you.
